Winter 2018 Part 2: Holiday Glam

Hi again! Here is part two of my winter 2018 must haves! This holiday season textures, embroidery, and embellishment are going to help make an outfit really stand out. What I noticed especially this year trend-wise is that glitter and starry-themed pieces are everywhere, so I reflected that in this post. I think that this gives us a way to elevate festive wear.

Whereas my last post was filled with pastels and lighter more playful colors, this post provides more classic pieces that can mix and match together fairly well and can transition to night smoothly. I live in a suburban Ohio town, and I don’t actually have very many occasions to dress up for; so when I am picking out outfits I like for them to be able to use every day as well . I feel that these outfits are still glam but they aren’t going to sit in your closet and collect dust for the rest of the year.

As an FYI, the links are ranked from most expensive to least. I really try to cater to a variety of budgets so that you have the option to achieve the same look at your price point.

Enjoy!

The Femme Tux

Menswear for women is a style I’ve always gravitated to – so long as feminine details are added. I think this look balances that idea, and topped off with a luxe faux fur jacket it becomes all the more polished. I would wear either plain black kitten heels or black booties with this one to keep look clean and simple.

Starry Night

I really enjoyed putting this look together as starry patterns are one of my favorites. This Eva Franco blouse has beautiful star and moon embroidery and combines sheerness with a high neck collar. The purse, although cutesy, is not juvenile and can be worn on other occasions. I liked how unique the design was on it and thought it paired perfectly with the blouse. The velvet pants are from J. Brand, I’ve never had a pair of pants fit me so well while feeling like I’m wearing sweatpants. Velvet plus metallics are always great for a holiday look.

Clueless

I was a huge fan of Clueless when it was airing on TV and secretly wanted to be Alicia Silverstone. This look lets me live that dream, in a slightly more grown up way. The skirt is from J.O.A.; the fabric is thicker and you can see the weaving in it. I’m not a huge fan of clothing with patterns that are simply printed on, it’s one of the ways I immediately know it is not a quality piece of clothing. The turtleneck is from Aritzia, it is made of a soft yarn material to keep you extra warm this winter. Top this look off with a pair black booties and tights, and you’re good to go.

Cozy by the Fireside

This is my Christmas day, relaxing by the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa in my hand kind of outfit. The blackwatch plaid plus navy cable knit from J. Crew gives me comfy-chic ski lodge vibes. A black leather shearling jacket boots adds even more coziness and warmth to this outfit.
